Welcome! My name is Matthew, and I am a third year PhD student in the Department of Linguistics at UC Santa Cruz, where I am advised by Matt Wagers.
My primary research interests are in sentence processing, syntax, and memory, with an emphasis on studying the structural representations that guide online parsing operations. I have recently completed my MA thesis, exploring the function and granularity of syntactic cues that are leveraged during the resolution of long-distance dependencies.
I am the lead student-organizer of Nido de Lenguas, an organization dedicated to the celebration and revitalization of indigenous Oaxacan languages, and the chair of the departmental colloquia Events Committee.
